Rhana Pytell is the founder and director of GAIA Spa, a company committed to the finest in personal care and wellness. Opening in 1997 as an oasis for skin and body care GAIA continues to be a leader in industry trends. In 2007 GAIA became a seed member of the Green Spa Network, an organization whose purpose is to bring sustainable operating practices to the spa industry, and to promote the natural connections between personal wellbeing, economic sustainability, and the health of the planet.

As a student of the early innovators in natural health disciplines, Bernard Jensen and Hanna Kroeger, Rhana has been a passionate holistic and organic lifestyle advocate for twenty years. She saw the opening of GAIA as an opportunity to bring holistic and healthy living to a wider community.

Throughout her tenure at GAIA, Rhana has learned from many challenges that face the spa industry, including rapid expansion, unprofitable and complex service operations, employee attrition, retail management and overhead. Much of the wisdom and expertise Rhana has gained in successfully 'growing' GAIA has been encapsulated into Amethyst Systems.

Amethyst Systems is the first company to provide spa management tools in a web-based format. The company is dedicated to giving spa owners, managers and directors the tools and resources they need to run healthy businesses.

At Amethyst, Rhana oversees the development and delivery of the company's web-based spa management software and consults with spa owners and directors to help them bring greater order, ease and accountability to their organizations.

Rhana holds a B.S. in Business Management from Kaplan University as well as certifications in the holistic, esthetic and wellness arts from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, UCLA and UCSD.
